Whining on the reports page...

Gas is $2.50 a gallon now, expect a lot more whining ! $50.00 gas , $10.00 lunch , $5.00 Power bait , =  3 hookups , 0 caught !   

That's all good. But when they are going to now travel to NY and OH which doubles and triple those costs to catch the same amount possibly. If these same guys can't catch fish in the Erie ditches, do you expect them to have any luck in the salmon River? Lmao. They should go ice fish for bluegill and perch...

Everybody likes to catch a bunch of fish, were all guilty, that's the fun of fishing. Problem is some guys get to bragging up their egos until it's a true challenge. Fact is, Erie was easy pickings for many years as were some NY creeks. Now reality has entered for whatever reason and it's become normal average fishing on most creeks. I truly doubt Erie Creeks will ever rise to the Golden Years of past, but it was fun while it lasted !     

That's the main problem. The guys that are ****ing the most can't locate and catch fish in current conditions and numbers. The days of sitting on 1 run or hole and landing 20 fish are over.

i don't reckon the unhappy ones will be any happier  in Ohio

Exactly. Do they think that they can magically catch 20 on the Salmon River? Look at the DSR reports. Erie is now what EVERY OTHER FISHERY is..

Not exactly the glory days here in Erie or up on the SRNY but  plan on fishing both in the next 2 weeks and will enjoy whatever fish I do hook up with.Nothing wrong with reading them but I would not put too much trust in the DSR reports.WCW

Why not? Some people catch Zero fish and hook zero fish. That's an honest report from a business. Do you think that the DSR wants to keep people away? Lmao

I believe the DSR reports tell it the way it is,some days are good,some days are so so.They are not bending the truth to get you there.
 

Speakin of reports EEA put their report out on facebook giving exact locations of hot spots on a couple creeks... as the world turns; these are the days of fatsos wit green paahrbait

I haven't given a "report" for awhile. But I wish there were more fish! I like insane numbers in front of me. And i think some people complain on reports because they hope the pfbc will take note and do something. And I hope the same thing! I've contacted the pfbc but just gotten the run around.
It's ironic...people whining on forums about the whiners on reports.

Lol. Who's whining. Asked a question. I think it's hilarious. Especially the one guy cryin about only catching a jack, yet there is a guy with 3 on a stringer beside him. Some guys can catch fish... Some can't.

Hey guys new here saw this forum and couldn't help myself lol I have been watching you tube videos on Erie hahaha lmao. Guys whining about Erie wanna come run the SR with us eastern boys gonna be sadly disappointed burn lots of gas and probably get wet in the real water. I'm deff Gettin in on Erie steel run next fall instead of chasing kings fer 3 months lol ! Tight lines to all the other true addicts # hard water

I was fishing the tribs before there was steel, and I will be fishing them when there is none.
A lot of the problem is building expectations on the past. When you do that you forget that it is called "fishing" and not "catching."

70's - 80's  decent runs of Coho with a light mix of Steelhead / no crowds on creeks except for the mouths of the tribs. Most creeks wide open to fishing. Trout Run and Walnut are the major targets. It's the beginning of a new fishery!  
 
80's - 90's Steelhead runs increase Coho slowly fade / crowds still mainly near mouths and shorelines. Runs are mixed good and not so good numbers.
Most creeks are wide open, traffic still very light.
Most new fishing ideas and information came from the West Coast, and the Great Lakes Fishing magazine. ( most fishermen didn't know this) Flies, Egg Sacs, Lures ,Rods, all West Coast ideas! They had the experience. 
 
90's - 2000  Steelhead runs continue to get stronger every year. Mouths of creeks are packed with fish and people. Awesome runs of fish are entering the creeks fairly steady.
The internet becomes a major media, newspapers are printing steady articles from Erie to Pittsburgh. Cell phones are ringing steady. The crowds start to increase stronger. Creeks are busy but still decent room if you walk a little. 
 
2000-2010 Steelhead runs are crazy ! Fish are packed in all areas of water from Rt.5 - I-79 ! People are everywhere , cars are jammed parked , Internet is on fire with info ! 
12-20 fish a day is normal for most fishermen. People from Canada to South Carolina to Wyoming to Maine are all flocking to Steelhead Alley !
I-79 traffic is tripled from Sept. - December !
Land is being posted fast , parking is a major issue in most areas , litter is everywhere, bathrooms are almost non existent, no fish cleaning stations, cell phones are now part of fishing gear ! 
The writing is on the wall. There is no way this can, or will continue like this !
Combat fishing has entered Erie Pa.strong and the Fish Commission is stymied ! 
 
2010-2016  Steelhead runs have decreased fairly rapid with each year becoming less.
Crowds are still very heavy in most areas. Some issues have been addressed with some bathrooms, parking and land owner leases. Combat fishing is accepted in most areas with limited access to upper creek areas, regular fishing areas are now overly busy.
There are no Steelhead fishing secrets, every day is a Saturday, internet fishing news and weather is daily watched, catch numbers on average are low. Seems fish size has also dropped just by reading the Pa. records past years.
 
Good , bad , whatever you rate it now, it's still fishing.....beats working !

they built it and we came  now its the after the gold rush era...... the lazy fat fisherman left,,, now the serious skilled are left,,, kinda glad this happened... let all the lazy fisherman stay home catching fresh stockies that hit anything......but im still catching steel lol lol it aint hard if u WALK A LITTLE ..............JUS SAYING
