Hunting sucks, stupid PGC ruined all the hunting. I passed 5 legal buck in archery hoping for a shot at a big boy in rifle. So far this rifle season 26 hours in the stand only seeing 83 deer. I only counted the same two buck i seen 7 times on Saturday once, and same with the buck i seen monday 3 times. Awful only 2 of the 5 hunters in my group shot bucks. I do not know how this could get any worse. All kidding aside, its about an average year for us. Cant complain

After hunting all day saturday without seeing a single deer while in the woods i didnt have very high hopes for today. That changed around 11am as my dad and brother were putting on a drive and a giant buck comes out of the woods into the goldenrod about 100 yards straight ahead of me but not offering a shot that i wanted to take as it was inside a horse pasture and only its head and antlers were above the golden rod. He turned into the woods and after what seemed like 3 hours (6 minutes) he emerged on the far side towards my buddy. He shot 3 times at him and never connected. The buck was about 150 yards from me broadside going through the golden rod on the far side of the field. I almost didnt shoot because all i could really see was from the bottom of his neck to his head but figured this is a once in a lifetime buck i have to take a chance. First 2 shots didnt come close but the 3rd hit him just below the ear and he fell. Ruined the chance for a euro mount so im getting a shoulder mount done with the better halfs blessing :) 7 point because one brow tines broke off.

I heard the deer was blind in one eye, couldn't see out of the other, had a lame back leg, a club front foot and died from old age. he hee..
Congratulations Dave, that's a dandy buck.

At 4:45 this evening I was hunched down on the platform of a ladder stand, elbow placed on the seat, rifle shouldered and laid across my hand, eye to scope with the cross hairs marking just behind the shoulder. 160 yards to my south, standing broadside, was a antlerless Whitetailed Deer (likely a Doe) and with finger on the trigger the question is now; to squeeze or not to squeeze?
Stupid question...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ KaBlam!!! BH But than again " likely a doe " could mean you didnt shoot, because of the uncertainty of the deers gender. Had you have shot, you would have known the gender.

Weather for Saturday looking to be shaping up.
Heyyyy do yinz think, like in the good ole days when kill results were poor (or not to "their" liking), the "Gods" of hunting, will extend the season?
Oooops there goes my attitude again. Likely to be given extended time out for that rant. I can see it now; more time sitting in a tree...... dam my luck!!!

Been a little slow for the guys I know that have been out, but as a surprise this guy came out of the square my parents property is in and was shot in the adjacent square. Never thought when I was growing up that this would be bear hunting territory. I'll have to keep an eye out from now on :). 400+ lbs 1B extended season

Congrats on the buck. Big boar, Conneaut is the new bear hot spot.lol I had one in my back yard in Beaver co.this summer.lol There roaming never know where one will be. Last year my buddy got a permit the hunt the Pittsburgh airport area( surrounding woods close to the runaway) he saw a bear several times and took pics of it. Although it wasn't huge it was a bear.

Well sit in my shanty in a thicket yesterday from 1:00 until dark saw nothing but a few squirrels 😜.. about 4:15 I went back to my shanty covering the fields... I noticed 3 guys that were getting ready to drive a thicket down below me. Anyhow they hit the thicket heading away from me so I waited ...no shots !! I decide at about 5:05 I have had enough , I'm putting stuff in my car , I look across the field about 300 yds and I think I see movement.... i glass them , yep I do ..one small buck and a smaller doe... no shooting by me either but the funny part of this story is they were standing right were the 3 guys were standing about 45 minutes before that...so yes I say the deer do have us hunters number at times 😜😜🍺🍺...oh well I'm bringing my 2016 rifle season to an end .... have had enough ..... GOOD LUCK GUYS ....my body is tired ....

Mopars0, don't give up. PGC told me archers got all the bucks, mentor hunters came in second, followed by youth and seniors killing all the doe in that one week October season. With over 200,000 deer killed before gun season even starts. Next year they will shorten bow season to 3 weeks, cut mentor out,cut out youth and senior doe week, but lengthen gun season to a split season two weeks in then rest a week off then two weeks on for the new semi automatic rifle season, plus increase doe license 25 percent. There just to many dam deer, and Lyme disease is on the rise. Oh I did hunt my hot spot, had a ball of doe run up to me at 10:50 9 total three adults six, fawns,no buck. Weather doesn't look so good, Wednesday middle of the day Dr. appointment so the last 3 days I just may shoot a doe. I'll be glad when it over, very frustrating season for me.

Looking forward to Friday. Cold, windy, cloudy, few hunters out. A perfect day to spend still hunting looking to pick off my first rifle doe in over 10 years. Maybe a skiff of snow if the hunting gods shine down upon me.

Not a legal buck here in 1B. And doubtful BeenThere that they'll extend the season. Given the expansions of seasons and weapons choices, I think they figure we had ample opportunities.

Dang! Forecast changed for Friday and Saturday. Now saying not as cold here in the SW part of the state. Highs in the mid 30s now. Was hoping for windy, cold and a skiff of snow for some still hunting Friday.

Count me in. Love toting the flintlock in cold and snowy conditions in January. Problem is, around here, cold and snowy conditions coinciding with hunting season is a rarity. I never hunted in snow last year once.

Not a black powder shooter, though I've thought about getting a shot barrel to hunt squirrels and maybe bunnies. Missed a good buy on a Traditions shot flint lock this past fall that would of maybe encouraged a deer rifle but of course, being the fine procrastinator I am, I sit wishing in one hand.......... Oh well..... there's always tomorrow. Don't give up, maybe you'll get a little dusting for Friday or Saturday.
