20 mile access project for DISABLED PEOPLE
http://www.erienewsnow.com/story/33003768/improved-fishing-access-planned-at-twenty-mile-creek Construction is expected to start this fall on a project to improve access for fishermen to Twenty Mile Creek in North East.
The focus is on helping people with disabilities.
Part of the parking lot at the North East Conservation Park will be paved, along with a route from the lot to a new handicapped accessible fishing pier near the mouth of the creek.
Supporters think the area will attract not only fishermen with mobility problems, but all anglers drawn to the area's world class steelhead fishing.
Fish & Boat Commissioner Edward Mascharka said, "I think you are going to get people from all over the world. Steelhead fishermen that fish in our area come from other countries and from all over the United States."
The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission and North East Township are working together on the project.
The state agency will pay most of the cost, estimated at $130,000. like hank williams Jr would say "its about time!"
