I'd like to get out to fish the Yough also, but at least for trout, the waters too warm even at the outflow. Last I checked, the water temp at the outflow was 68 degrees. It was peeking at 73 degrees at Ohiopyle. The fish will be fine if they're left alone. Some cooler temps in the coming days will help things out.
I think they stocked the outflow September the 2nd. If you do go, good luck.

where did you get the outlet temperature from??  the outlet flow comes from the bottom of the lake and is in the 40's all year around - I think.

The reservoir lost much of its cold water back in June when we had some heavy rains and the USACE was dumping water to maintain the height of the reservoir pool. And since the dam is a bottom release only dam, the cold water obviously was the first to go. Then in late July, the USACE starts their drawdown of the dam and that hot streak came along. That's where we're at now.

It is not in the 40s all year round but is bottom release.  The entire lake warms through the summer.  As thelake's water levels get lowered through out summer, the lake gets shallower & as a result warmer deeper.  It's currently coming out of the dam at 70 degrees, it's been over 65 for the last 2 weeks.  It will stay that warm, through September & into October, depending on weather.  You could have cold days & super warm water for a while.  Once the lake cools enough from the autumn, at the top & the lake turns over, only then will the water be in the 50s again, in the Yough river.
