Spinning gear advice.
Hey all. New guy here. I live in Pittsburgh, pretty much a stone's throw from the Mon River. have very little experience fishing, but I've picked up a few ideas here and there. I'd appreciate it if some of you more experienced folks could tell me if I'm headed in the right direction with my thinking in terms of gear.
I'm looking at a St. Croix Avid X 6'6" MF and a Daiwa Procyon 2500 reel. I'll be bank fishing mostly, and I use a wheelchair. 6'6" seems about the right length for portability for me since I don't drive. To my thinking, what I'm looking for is a jack of all trades, master of none type of set up. I have no idea what species are in the river by me, so I'm thinking to get various sizes of soft plastics and small crankbaits to cover a range of situations and species. My budget doesn't allow for more than one rod and reel at the moment, but I'll probably get more as I get further stuck in.
Thanks in advance,
