Toxic Algae in Presque Isle Bay?

Toxic Algae in Presque Isle Bay?

I was at Presque Isle Bay Wednesday doing some shore fishing for Bass. I saw signs warning about Toxic Algae. There was no means of identifying the Algae based on the information provided on the  signs. Misery Bay near the monument is covered with some type of growth, so I didn't fish there. Does anyone know if Misery Bay is polluted with Toxic Algae ?  Does anyone know if it is in the bay and if so, what does it look like. Is it safe to fish in areas with Toxic Algae?

    Yep, quite a few blooms in the bay this year...watch out if you're wet-wading.

    The one in the Buffalo news has a photo of toxic algae in what looks to be the lagoon boat livery. Other areas to watch include Vistas 2 and 3, Leo's Landing, Sturgeon Bay (stinkhole), the ferry slip and marina gas dock.

    I hope this is fixed or the lake will be the dead sea.

    Thanks for the response and attachments. I have a better understanding of what Toxic Algae is and why I want to stay the heck away from it. Might wait till fall to go back up.
