Yough River Ohiopyle and Above Trout Questions

To my surprise I caught a brook trout below the falls in Ohiopyle today. I am very skeptical about this being a natural brook trout, but I know they don't stock the Yough at the outflow with brook trout, so how was this guy in there? Are there natural brook trout living in this area of the Yough? If so that's awesome. I feel like he was definitely a stocky though, just not sure from where.

Second, I'm trying to target big rainbows and browns on the Yough and I would like everyone's input as to what types of lures/bait I should use. I usually do good on Rapala UL minnows which trout love. I would like to get some other opinions as of what to use. I picked up 10 smallies using the UL minnows today and the brookie, but no bows or browns. I know the big bows and browns are in there which leads to my next question, where?

I am pretty good at reading the river layout and stuff so that's not the problem, but where on the Yough would be my best bet for a trophy brown or rainbow. Preferably a brownie! I don't fly fish, but probably will get into it next year because I know browns are accustomed to flies and minnows. Any tips and/or hints would be appreciated!

Here's the brookie btw...

Those brookies are kind of both wild and native. There is a hatchery by the out flow pool. But if they would breed out side the cage area the browns would eat the eggs anyway.
As far as trophys fly or bait fishing. You want to fish between the ram cat boat launch and ohio pyle. Make sure you take a wading staff and a friend because the water there is moving pretty good down that way.

There is an story in today's Pittsburgh paper about the Yough that talks about recent surveys.  Many more rainbows than browns the way I read it.  Perhaps you can find the article on line?

There's a lot of little tributaries of the Yough that have brookies in them. Not too surprised if a few of them find their way into the main river.
Had a great day (Saturday) on the Yough, somewhere between Ramcat and Ohiopyle. Got hit by 3 rafts, but had a 18 trout day, all on dry flies, including a 22" rainbow taken on a size 14 parachute hares ear. Ended the day with a Diesel Unlimited d.5  robusto cigar. It was a great day.

I forgot about laurel hill and the casselman... very possible that's where it came from. Also like you said, hendey lathe, the smaller tribs do hold them, not sure why I didn't think of that. I feel like the Yough from the Ohiopyle area up to Ramcat is under rated. A lot of people I know and I've heard a lot of people say that they don't think trout stay in there year round. They are full of it.
