Conneaut Lake

Fished Connie on Friday..lots of small Gills & Crappies...No keepers ..but noticed about half the fish I caught were covered with small black specks..Never saw that before on Conneaut fish.. (have seen it on fish out of other small impoundments)..Anyone know what causes this strange looking appearance ??
