Where to start ?? Man I miss that place already, how bout there....
Thurs:
roll in about 1pm to campgrounds.. Setting up was cake and thank gosh for A/C !!! My son family rolled in 1/2 hr behind.. By 3:30 pm we were on the water.. It was FLAT & HOT so first order of biz was to take a swim off the boat.. Granddaughters thought it was COOL to jump off the boat, I thought it was awesome everyone could experience the fun I have and why .. So off to a troll, word is was, head north ... I went to the SR and 120-140 fow.. Like I said , marked most fish of the season.. Had 2 or 3 releases but no sign of shakers and nothing hooked.. Yea we hook em' out there with trebles.. After a 4:30-7pm troll we headed to camp.
Only pic of the day on a flat sea:
Day 2 Friday:
Son couldn't fish and I wasn't into sitting on shore until rest of family arrived about 6pm so off I went on my first EVER solo run on the great lake Ontario ... Admit, I was nervous about the what if's ... Lake was choppy, solid 2-3's then up to 4 footers.. I booked right back to where I seen fish day before and they were gone !! Trolled around a dead sea from 7:30 am until 1:30 pm.. Running gear solo SUCKS , IMO !!! 3 dipsies and 1 rigger was all I could handle, obviously 3 rods but there are ways of adding more lures .. Not happening that day..
Only pic of the solo run:
Afternoon was pretty sweet at camp.. More family arrived and we swam, ate and partied along the beach..
Thank gosh for A/C in the camper !!!
Day 3 Sat:
Woke up early , son and I went out and headed right back to you know where.. Still a dead sea so we kept going north and getting deeper.. Marked a fish in the right depth 70-ish down, I look back and rod fires.. It was like watching a flag fly on a tip-up.. Woke son up and handed him the rod, some folks call that taboo,, I guess I will too as he lost the fish.. Well back to the grind on what I called a blank screen.. We seen marks WAY up high in 80 fow I thought maybe steelhead but was later told they were MUSKY and have pic's.. Hummmm..
We just couldn't catch a break so headed in..
JUST In Time.. I have a lightning detector on my boat.. It registered 3 times we were out .. When we got back to camp the rains came around 2:30 pm.. It was hot and heavy for awhile but nowhere near some numbers posted around Pulaski, Altmar.. Will say, the bulk was inland..
After a hot shower from the rains we headed to the beach again.. I'm not a saltwater fan so this is just the best freshwater beach in my mind. Swim, surf and amazing sunsets :)
After dinner it was time to head up for the camp band.. Holy cow, those guys could play.. Great tunes and had tons of people up dancing, from Allmans, Michael Jackson, 3 doors down, Green Day, some new country , P-funk (yes P-funk), Santana, Cheap Trick to gosh knows what else, they played a great show well worth the price of admission..
The sleep that night was peaceful to a steady rain..
Day4 sunday:
what else to do on a blow off small craft advisory but wake up late and pack up late.. We rolled out of camp around 1 pm.. Made a trip to secure boat, grab some things and head south east..
Sadly I wont be getting back this weekend but totally high HUGE expiations when I do.. Haven't caught a mature king yet so it's only going higher , right ?
Predictions:
These next reports should be what's to come for the tribs.. Yes it will become combat style on the lake.. I will do my best to play in Rome but I don't like crowds and idiots so mine might be a little off from others..
Last but not least Eric Clapton ROCKS !! , semi close to G*D.. The Windmill guy to his right,, well .. We Wont get fooled again..
Peace & Tuna
