Chautauqua Walleye?

My friend has caught them on Chautauqua with Musky sized lures before, but hasn't ever targeted them. I've only ever fished the lake for Musky as well, Walleye are more like baitfish there lol.

Although in all seriousness, I've heard that finding sudden dropoffs and slowly jigging bucktails will work pretty well for them when they're biting. Red is supposed to be a good color for them in Chautauqua.

Only Ice fished the lake,jigging Raps in front of the condos.

My Dad, Brother and I almost always limited out on the walleye by trolling Bear Paw spinners (harnesses) just outside the weed beds. Other harnesses worked OK, but the Bear Paw snelled with 3 silver Colorado blades seemed to work the best. Most often the best times were early and late in the day, or if it was overcast with or without rain, anytime was the ticket. Most of our fishing was at Bemus to Long Point and at the Bell Tower. We caught many muskies on the harnesses also, but always released them.

Thats why you leave her at home, when your seriously going after the toothy critters!  You can't expect the fish to adjust to you.  

On the deep side of the lake where the two connect heading toward the shallow lake just on the right before you cross the narrows into the shallow half there are some stair step ledges that are excellent for night jogging with a simple 1/8 oz white glo jig and crawler. Just work it nice and slow down the steps... we usually limit out there and it seems to be bigger fish (18"-24" the norm) happy hunting! The deep weededge on the right up to there is productive too with spinner and crawler harnesses but only about 1 of 5 are keeper size but still lots of fun!
