lake fishing near Gibsonia

I am looking for lakes or ponds near the Gibsonia area to fish.  I like to avoid places like North Park.

There are stretches of Pine Creek that are pretty nice. I'm not familiar with any lakes/ponds in the area. I'd imagine if any worth fishing, they are likely private or people would rather not post on the interwebs. You aren't too far of a drive to Athur. North Park isn't too bad. I'd love if South Park had ta similar lake...

What's wrong with North Park? I fish there all year and have no complaints. Great fishing for sunfish, crappie, largemouth, and bullheads. There's some pretty big carp in there too. That's the only public lake I know of around here but as stated above Pine Creek is good year round as well, always Trout, Bass, and Suckers to be caught!

What about Marshall Lake?

Maybe a bit further than you want to go, but Lake Oneida just north of Butler is really nice.  Probably 35-40 minute drive from Gibsonia and definitely not too crowded.  Just started fishing it last year, and have caught bass, crappie, gills and catfish.  Plenty of carp in there too.

There are some great farm ponds in southern Butler and northern Allegheny counties.  I've found that most land owners are a lot more likely to give you permission to fish than they are to hunt.  Find some water that looks good and knock on some doors.

Just remember there is no boats/wading or fishing after dark at Oneida. Another under fished lake is the Glades Wildlife Lake just a bit north ov Oneida Lake & West Sunbury. It's non powered boats & the northern part is only open from June---> Aug. & wuz built in 1974. Harbor Acres lake is only a stone throw away. Deer Lakes ain't that far but prob. not your style if not in favor N.P. I'd fish Deer Crick & the river 90% ov time when I lived down that way.

Up 1/2 mile from the new Hulton Bridge think Guys Run Rd. on Harmar side there is a large inlet from the river that has produced many nice fish over the yrs.

Years ago There was conversation about a lake being put in at SouthPark. Nothing ever came about that. My brother was supposed to trap and see what kind of animals were around the area for the fish and game commissions.

That would be pretty awesome.  I wonder where they would put it?

Porktown, the original spot mentioned for the lake in South Park was from Stoltz Road down thru Sleepy Hollow.( starting where the tennis club is now) The plan was to mine the coal underneath and then reclaim the area into a lake. Not sure why it didn't happen, but I'm sure South Park Township didn't want it back then- they were opposed to anything new

that would have been something...  it wouldn't technically have been in the park though.  its a wet area there but cant imagine that creek would fill a small lake..

Would have been a nice size lake. Then I wouldn't have to put up with in-laws when we visited. They live right over the hill from Sleepy Hollow.

Look up pine township pond.  Its not too far from north park and has some decent bass fishing.
