Lake Arthur ice-out pike?

Anybody ever hit up Lake Arthur for pike after ice out? Was thinking of hitting up Muddy Creek this weekend if it is warm. Was hoping big inline spinners and spoons would do the trick.

I've heard they are in there but never really fished for pike in PA. Got a bunch in Montana last summer. Oh what fun and very tasty!

They like the bobbers that I hang my perch/crappie jigs from... They are there, but rarely hit when I am fishing for them. A ton of decayed weeds in the Muddy Creek area. Seems to be 100 casts, of clearing off my lure to every legit hit. I've got a few, but either doing it wrong or just not my type of fishing. They are tastey. Not the easiest to clean, but what larger fish is easy? Good luck. Might run into you there.

They spawn early than walleye! That's about what I know. Your looking at a 40 degree spawn. Could be in post-spawn by now! Recouping in deeper water on structure. I've never chased them tho.

The hot bite was over over a week ago. Time to get the boat fired up (HOPE) tomorrow for a test outing & see if we can get into the Byrds.

You should do well up there. I wade it this time of year and get lots of them on jerk baits.

The best time is when the lake is just startin' to thaw. So many r miles (left) from the lake over a week ago & ain't  worth bothering with spawnin' Pike. Best to stay out of spawnin' areas now & hit near deeper water for post spawn fish that will chase down your offerings. hOPe tIs hElpZ

What ever part of the lake u decide to fish hit the closest drop offs near the shallows for active fish.

I was worried about being late for the spawn with the early ice-out.  Guess I'll try the main body of the lake and see what I can get into.  Not really sure what to go after but beats a day at work.

Just a followup:  Saturday spent some time in Muddy Creek arm.  Nothing but dink crappie.  Sat on top of some structure near the lower 528 boat launch that was holding some larger fish (walleye maybe?) but they weren't taking jigs.  Might of had better luck with minnows but I didn't feel like making the drive to the bait store that morning.

Good news was the crappie seem to be waking up at least!
