trout on top at Twin

Just got back from the lake, the trout were biting & so was Jack Frost. Was only 1 other guy that I saw, everyone must be out Christmas shopping. I did well on jigs, but the rod tip kept freezing up & I didn't have a chap stick to put on them so it made jigging a ltttle tough. At least the skitters were not a problem. It is going to be tough getting used to the chill.  sam

Speaking of trout on top. last time there, shortly after the sun hit the water, the bite shut down hard. I had already landed 2 and missed another 3 hits on creek chubs in about a half hour. Spotted a school of browns cruising back and forth in front of us, scared to death of virtually anything we put near them. I was able to eventually land a nice brown on a sz 14 cdc & elk dry fly (caddis imitation ) after the same fish hit it 3 times and I managed to miss him. Didn't notice any bugs hatching, and the other fish in the school did not seem very interested in it. Saw no other fish caught between the other 6 or so guys around, but didn't stay late either.

Try fishing Christmas Day [difficult for most people] or the day before if you can. Forecast is 64 degrees!

Last year it was hard to find much ice fishing gear around locally. Maybe they will have a sale on all the leftovers!!
