Beaver Run Reservoir

Are there still any plans to get it open to the public? Came across some pix of someone doing some stealth fishing there, seemingly pike and muskie biting nonstop. The place has to be absolutely packed full of fish not being any fishing allowed there for the past 30 years. Seeing some older threads and articles back from 2008 trying to get it opened to the public, but never happened. Why?!!!

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

If I am correct it's a drinking reservoir, it would be really tough to get it open to the public, but I know some people that snuck in there along time ago and caught some massive fish

Ah that makes more sense. Shame, I'm sure there's plenty of loch ness muskies in there.

Drinking water lol, big deal....funny, if that's their concern then why does an oil company drill and own all the land around the "drinking water lake" that sounds safe!

I live very close to B. R. R. and have not (yet) fished the lake, I am very tempted but there is limited access and it's highly patrolled from what I've heard. I did drive by a few times this year to check the lake out and it looks to be waaaaayyy down from this time last year.
Skeelol, I've heard there is probably state records for almost every fish in that lake.

As per prior post, "source of drinking water." So are all the local rivers. Quemahoning Res., Two Lick Res.,Tionesta Res. and others too numerous to mention. Fishing, boating, and other outdoor activities are permitted. I do understand the local Twp. Supervisors were upset due to some of the slobs and slob fishermen that would litter along the shoreline. But I don't think an honest effort was implemented to remedy the problem other than simply close it down to the public.  I think there could have been other solutions to the problem.   Lou

Are the employees allowed to fish the reservoir?  If so, might answer a lot of questions as to "why."

I haven't passed the lake lately (past 10 years...), but there used to be a dock with a ski boat on the lake, right off of the 286 bridge.  I'm guessing part of their patrol, or someone treating the lake as their own private lake.  It's a shame that a lake that size is off limits.  As others noted, just about every waterway in the area is used for water supply.

btw that dock is still there, however I haven't seen the boat the last handful of times I have passed by.

Why not open the lake to shore fishing only, or electric motor only, it really is a beautiful lake. Could it be the PFBC just does not want to maintain and stock another lake in the region? who knows.

Have you ever been to... name a lake?  Every place you can walk to fish is LITTERED with garbage left behind by selfish jerkmonkeys.  Even those who pick up for themselves and the bad ones don't put a dent in the absurdity.  Hell at Arthur launches there are always several handy trash receptacles and/or a dumpster and every one of them have litter.  Summary: people ca only be trusted to suck.  Proven time an again to every landowner everywhere.

Litter is the least of their worries, drilling oil all around the lake is a far greater concern for the people drinking that water. But you are right people who litter are selfish and ruin a lot of good things for responsible anglers. It's really not that hard to take your trash with you when you go, people suck.

How about some kind of a lottery or raffle. Pay ten bucks for a chance to fish for a day. Limit the winners to 3 or 4 a day. Then use the proceeds to pay someone on public assistance to clean up any litter. LOL

I fished there once 20 years ago, caught a bunch of big largemouths.  Had to keep an ear open for the man, he comes by boat or quad.  Did see a couple 3'+ pike that were thrown on the shore to die.  If they opened it up it would just be another over fished and under stocked public PA fishery.

The lake is a drinking water supply for local community they will never open it to the public for fishing. but on that note i know first hand that the place holds multiple state records.i was fishing one night of Story road back in the cove.and i hooked into something that felt so big much bigger then the flat heads i have caught out of the local rivers. but my mom and her husband own some land that borders the water authority.and they do patrol.the best bet if you want to fish is get dropped off. i also have a few trails through the woods to get down to the boat launch area. the first time i was there i took my buddy some of us know him as invicta on here his first cast he hooked up with a nice pike. great place to fish if you can find a way if you do get caught there for any reason its a 500 dollar fine though so please friends walk weary and run when you see the caretaker LOL but not to fast the guy is a little older but he does try to catch people.

I like the idea of a lottery...at least someone can go in and have some really good stories to tell not to mention a great time. Heck may even be able to believe some of them !
