Very unimportant question?

What causes the sudden jump on the Brandy Run water gauge every so often.  Last week I noticed it about every morning and it did it again this morning?  I told my fishing buddy it was probably from all the fisherman stepping into the water last week but he wasn't buying it.

    I stop and pee on the gauge each trip to trick people to thinking the waters up. You caught me... lol
     
    But to be true, I've seen that also. I assume its someone maybe hitting the gauge or could be someone working on the sensors.
