Fly fishing question t

I typically only break my pole out for salmon fishing once a year and the occasional erie trip . But I live in Edinboro now a days so I have a lot more interest in taking it for walks in erie . Now here's my question. . How can I attach light leaders to flyline without having to taper heavy line to light via blood knots . The times iv taken my fly rod to erie never last to long Cuz frustration sets in when my leader snaps on a loop to loop connection . Would there be less of a breaking point at the loop if I tightened down a slip knot rather than a loop to loop ? I hope this makes sense . My dads taught me several things over the years but at times I find it might have a different name to some one else lol thanks in advance

I normally just loop my main line then tie on 6 pound fluoro to the loop with a clinch knot.

I user a 6 inch section of 25lb amnesia line from my fly line using two loop 2 loop connections. From there I put about a 4-5 foot section of 12 to 10LB Mono or fluro leader.
 
Off of that leader, using a double surgical knot (think that's what its called) I can attach my fluro line as tippet to my fly and then add tandem if needed. Try placing indicator on the main leader in case I do break off, it doesn't get lost as well.

thanks guys . I did t wanna sound hopeless lol iv done this a while just always seemed like there's a more sensible to do things . Currently have 4 lines tapered from 16lbs down to 4lb and it works . But if I break off at the flyline its a headache for me

I have been making furled leaders for years. Got the method off the internet of course. We have a jig and use UniThread or very fine monofilament. We figure that they are costing us around a quarter to produce one. I get the Blackbird swivels from FishUSA. The ones we make for dry fly fishing are really nice.
