Where are the smallies??

THis time of year,where are the smallies at?
Shallow enuff to fish them from a kayak?
Just trying to get some general info as to where they maybe at?

    havent caught any smallmouth since august. there still out in deepwater.

    Seems like it fits the topic... how does one fish for smallies deep?  I'm sure they eat bait, and I'm sure most guys targeting them use jigs of some sort.

    tubes, dropshots and blade baits are the most commonly used methods.
     
    They are still in 30 to 40 fow and will stay there til spring.

    Yup, that's about where we were finding them. Those things are crawling all over the shallower wrecks in ~30 feet! If you can drift over one using jigs I can pretty much guarantee you'll find them, plus rock bass, drum, channel cats, large white suckers, and non-migratory walleye, oh and tons of gobies. At least, that's what I've found down there anyway. The hard part is finding the wrecks without coordinates, that takes some experimenting.

    The smallies moved in to just outside of east ave, launch. caught quite a few trolling for steel.
