Slow week end there were fish scattered top to bottom, but very few willing to take of the fish i saw hooked, most were snagged.....all but one i saw landed went out on a rope the hatchery had a bunch of small coho in the pen and a few moving up through the ladder, very few kings Loads of people, looked like Columbus day week end.

Read where some of the Kings coming into the low end today are full of eggs and 'ready to pop'. Hope they keep coming-wont be up for at least about 10 days-filled the schedule at home due to fish not running too much. At least they are starting --to whatever level that may be this weird season. One day does not make a run, so we will hope----- Good luck to all who get in on it.

Reports are favorable this morning. A good run of King's & Coho's are moving through DSR. It may be late but the big push seems to be happening.

Would be astonished to see a push that made this season any more than last. We needed something to even accomplish that. At least there is a push of some kind and that is a good thing. Wouldn't it be GREAT if they kept coming and surprised folks like me who have been so concerned with the health of the fishery. Good luck to all.

My main joy in this, is that it provides steelies (and invertebrates) food for them to last the winter. Glad to see. I may go later this month, if it really has happened.

Dropping a report. Wed was the day I went back and napped. Fished Pville area late morning til early afternoon. Saw one fish on a rope and a boat rolled one from a riffle and a client landed it. Saw some fish hooked at the clam shed. Thurs after the Wed crowd I slept in. Got p 9ish got coffee and went visiting at Malinda's. Just before noon wandered to the lfz. Walked up to the rock and nobody fishing so I started. Older guy yells at me that one of his boys is fishing there. He says getting coffee so my response was that now I'm fishing there. Heard a younger guy (40ish) ask the grump what he said to me after which he explained that they didn't own the hole. Still can't land a fish to save my life. Four kings and a coho on over the next couple hours none to the beach for pics. Had enough salmon fishing and went back to Malinda's then dinner and back to camp. Thurs night heavy rain starting 1 am and continuing until 6 am with steady rain intermingled with heavy burst after that. Lucky a break around 8 so I pulled the soggy tent drove around in the rain and couldn't make myself find a spot to fish. 7:50 DSR report said solid movement of kings started this morning. No updates since. Found a few browns pushing into a small creek to play with and now home again jiggity jig.

So it seems there has not been much to report as of lately from the salmon country as far as increased fish. Was that " big" push the only good news of the season or are still fish numbers increasing . Just from an outsiders view , it still seems bleak . I know the hatchery started egg take today . Seems they have an acceptable amount to strip but it also seems by taking eggs now they are not expecting a big increase in more fish . Maybe I got it backwards. Any rate , if the egg take is commencing, wouldn't you think this is the " normal " time ( I know water temps and such play a factor as well ) the rivers should be full of fish ? Maybe they are and looking forward to 2 b's report.
Bigbear: Glad you had a great time and the fishing was decent for you guys . Thanks for sharing

Agreed- a very nice push IMHO but not what it was a few short seasons ago--although one tackle shop is ( of course) reporting its HOT. Also, IMHO, town pool, needle and ballpark reports aint 'fishing' reports. Better than it was--likely--but not the fishing we are used to having for weeks at time-like last season one might expect -except for some Steel- it will be over as quickly as it materialized. Would be nice for a real run to happen but think it too late for that again this year. Hope the weather folks are right with a mild winter coming-think we need 3 to get back to where we were. Will be up Sunday for a few days of leaves and fishing-my kind of surf and turf. A least next year-without the house up there -it will all be surf lol.

I think they begin egg take when the fish are ready. Fish that came in a few weeks ago and have been ripening in the hatchery. Fish that were in the river then are likely gone. I know the Genesee is filling up (was down there yesterday and even with very turbid water saw lots of fins and tails, and lots of rollers and jumpers) but there are no deads around, and I didn't see any flashes in the tailouts, so they are not dropping eggs yet.

The weather woman this morning is using the s word for Saturday, this is upstate NY where if you don't like the weather wait 20 minutes, unless you are fishing, in which case, it will only get worse! Hope the Ohio traveler brought more than a speedo and simms, they are talking neoprene weather for the rest of this week!

RG the leaves are starting to fall pretty good with a good gust of wind. Bring your rake. Pretty much what everyone on the river is doing anyways. Further report Typing this instead of getting ready to fish after a massive bout of super colon blow. Still not confident I am master of my domain so to speak.

Just be glad it didn't happen while walking in on a trail somewhere. If it does--WATCH THE WADER STRAPS .
