Lake author

Updates for Friday please . Tried lake wilhalm this Sunday got a nice 5+ pound large mouth and some small ones . Want to go to author if water is good .

Mercury jet, & Tohotsu prop.  Lowes boat, ST. Croix poles Shimano reels .

    Haven't been up there in a couple weeks, but I can tell you from the crazy unrelenting rain that the lake is still high and murky.  That said, the fish don't mind.

    It has cooled off the lake as well, and seems to be messing with some of the patterns.  That said, just try some other patterns that work for you at other times of the year, and you'll find some fish.  Might not be the fish that you are targeting.  Biggest thing with me on Arthur is the wind.  If you can avoid it, you'll likely catch some fish.

    Is it muddy ? I hear it gets really high also

    Sam and Pork have been fishing Arthur much longer than I have but to answer your questions from my limited perspective . . .
     
    I've been chasing wipers at night a time or two a week for the past couple weeks, and it's higher than I've ever seen it in 3 years of fishing there - 2 to 3 feet deeper in the places I wade.  Monday night when I was there, it had receded significantly but was still on the high side.  With a headlamp on, I couldn't see more than a foot or so into the water, but that's not all that unusual. It's almost always murky to dark, no matter where on the lake I fish.  Would imagine with the nearly 2" of rain that much of Butler County got Tuesday night that it is back to very high and probably on the very murky side.  More rain forecast for this evening.
