Pittsburgh Three Rivers Reports?

I don't have much to share myself, I'm hoping I hear some local reports from the Allegheny Mon or Ohio around Pittsburgh. I've fished the Allegheny from shore three times in the past week. It's been very slow, skunked my first trip, caught 3 smallies the last time out and one little smallmouth this morning. Not much activity from what I can see, at least near shore. I've been watching water temps rise and it appears it just passed 60 in a few areas in and around Pittsburgh waters, according to local USGS reports.

Anyone having better luck?

I fished the dam at Freeport last Friday and caught some little smallmouths and a 10" walleye.  Very slow.

Another 3 hours today on the Allegheny and we caught 6 smallmoith. Better average size including 4 in the 14-15" range (all caught by my buddy). Bite died around 9am and we were gone by 10. They were much shallower today so that was good to see.

Fished the Mon today near Homestead. Looked like a lot of activity early, but I only caught 3 very small smallmouth in about 2 hours. It was hot, I should have tried earlier in the morning.

Bass were chasing several big schools of baitfish near shore and I saw a number of suckers or carp cruising the shallows as well. I only got bit when a swarm of smallies came in shallow and started busting minnows.

The Mon in southside hasn't been producing too well so far this year. This white bass has pretty much been the only thing significant I've caught so far. Smallies just aren't around like they were a couple years ago. Also very angry they put a bunch of docks in down behind the Works, my old fishin spot now has a house smack dab on top of it.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

Ultimate spot burn!  "Good fishing you say?  Great place for my new office!"

Still though, docks make good habitat for fish.

try directly across the river from that spot....always produces. Buddy and I hit the Mon on Friday and smashed smallies some with good size too. Get a boat and float the shorelines.

    Got Walleye???
