Yeah not the best day ever. Started out around 10am at the bait store in Zelie. Turns out the old coot (Mr Carlson?) is in very bad shape, and probably won't be back to the shop. The lady there mentioned hospice. That's a shame, he's been there since forever. No idea what will become of his shop.
Then the bait lady tells us we have a flat. SIGH. Make it to the gas station just before the 79 on ramp to air up but the tire is toast. Call in the cavalry and swap in the spare, -1 hr but still gonna fish. Lake was WINDY. And it was windy from all directions at once, so you couldn't hide on a shoreline. Seriously, wind can suck it hard. Water was 56ish when we launched and 60ish when we left. Lake was also murky as all get out. Like 0 visibility. I think the fish we caught were just swimming around with their mouths open hoping to catch a bite.
Caught a half dozen perch worth keeping and a 5lb cat. Had 4 run offs and that one hookup on the cat lines. Used nearly a whole can of gas running around looking for shelter. Not one of my best trips. Still the skunk is out of the boat. Think I may spend the spring upgrading the boat and trailer and then just fish in the summer. I'm much better at summer on Arthur then spring and fall.
Anyway, there's your report. Good luck out there. Oh! TON of boats out today. Maybe because of opening walleye? Maybe just because nice spring day. Tomorrow should be busy.
