winter safety...
Saw two guys standing right out on the edge of the ice shelf in town today below the short bridge. If the ice gave way they would've been plunging in yo 5 foot of water with no chance of getting back to safety for about a hundred yards down stream. The main kicker here is the river was packed with slush. So here these guys were standing no chance of catching a fish while their lines were just floating on top of slush and ice. Its quite obvious they are not experienced too much and are not well informed. To all that read this: when there's slush in the lower river do not waste your time. Ice floats and when the water is 32 with flush in it your line will float not sink. Please folks let's be smart and be safe out there. Honestly, with the lack of internet info many inexperienced folks should hire a local guide. It may mean less trips but I guarantee it would mean more fish and more safe!!!
