On Wednesday June 8th, the Pymatuning Lake Association and Pa Fish and Boat commission will be building and placing 125 cribs on the north end of the lake. This will take place at the Wilson Launch just west of Linesville and the start time is 8:30 AM. See you there! -Roy

75 cribs were dropped at 41degrees 39.671 North, 80 degrees 29.707 West in 7 to 8 feet of water. Another I don't know how many were dropped at 41 degrees 39.448 north, 80 degrees 30.316 west in 8 to 9 feet of water. We built somewhere around 125 and stopped when we ran out of concrete blocks. It was a good time.

No problem BTDT. It was good time. I let the younger people do a lot of the work, though I did carry a couple dozen 8 inch block. I am envious of how much energy 4th through 8th grade and even high school students have. There were about 15 middle schoolers that were lucky enough to have a science teacher care enough about the event to bring them. These kids busted their butts and had fun doing it. We put out somewhere between 125 and 150 cribs in less than 3 hours, then the PLA fed us pizza. PLa paid for or got volunteers for all the costs. As far as the coordinates, I figure that it the reason to put the cribs in the lake... to give out the coordinates. 75 cribs in one area could stretch as long as a football field, so there should be room for quite a few boats in that area. I'm guilty for being quite a bit off topic, but I thought many would be interested in knowing that the state (people's republic) of California, just a few hours ago, in an appeals court decision ruled that the 2nd Amendment does NOT provide for the right to carry concealed. Sorry for off topic post, but I thought it appropriately noteworthy. I'm not sure if this applies to California only or if it was a Federal appeals court that happened to be in California.

so hence my screen name, I troll a lot and have lost quite a bit more gear =($$$)on cribs and such than I have at the black jack table,, (good thing I don't gamble or Id really be in the poor house)! Now I know they are great to have for the fishy so my question is when you guys fish these do you use bobbers, jigs etc.? Because I could see a good bit of lost gear!! I'm just looking for some expert advice!! Thanks. Also do these cribs mainly attract fish during the spawn of the particular species or are they known to hold fish all year? Again fishing these is new to me so i appreciate any suggestions!!👍

There is a song by Steely Dan called "My Old School". Part of the lyrics say "..........California, tumbles into the sea". It is one of my favorite Dan songs. Who would cry if this liberal Sodom and Gomorrah did fall into the sea??????

I found a real nice stump field yesterday right on the edge of a 5 ft drop. I just wish my favorite flickershad hadn't of decided it liked the stumps so much and wanted to stay there!

Ventured up yesterday, Friday June 10, with little luck. Did manage a few nice bass and about 6-8 sub eyes, but 'gills and cats seemed to be the only enthusiastic takers. There was as little wind as I have ever experienced...even worse than the last two times which were both abnormally deplete of wind. I did see one amish guy trolling pull an eye he had on a stringer off the side to show another boat...it was pushing 30"...a true PIG!!!

I had a couple amish kids following me around the other morning. I reeled my flickershads in to about 30 ft back and took them right over the stumps. I turned around and 3 of their 4 rods were snagged and they were no longer following me after that. :)

From what I've seen the past few weeks they sure are not catching much on the south end. They have been mostly fishing up towards orchard and occasionally coming down to the bay 41/snodgrass area before returning north. I'm hoping to get out a evening or 2 this coming week I just hope the fish decide to start to cooperate better!

LOL.....! That's a good fish story with a bad ending ! It happens to all us fishermen at least once in a lifetime. I use the self locking stringers and they work excellent, except when you don't have any thing to lock them on to. Usually I lock onto my fishing vest except when I'm moving a lot, then I look for an object near shore. Years ago I decided to use some flat rocks and wrap the stringer around only to come back later and see my big Steelhead gone ! There he was swimming out in the current dragging my 4 ft. nylon locking stringer up and down the creek. Took me forever but I got lucky just before dark and was able to snag the stringer and reel him back in ! Maybe BTDT will get lucky after all if he hooks into that ! LOL

Friend of mine had ~ 15 inch trout on a stringer on his belt first day of trout. Well the stringer came off and trout and stringer are gone. Hours later young lad hooks it and brings it in, it being his first trout ever I sort of help my friend decide to let him have trout and friend got his stringer back. Lad is happy and so is friend until we came back to camp. The big trout pool for the day was won with a much smaller fish and it cost my buddy ~70 bucks. You see in his excitement to retrieve at least his stringer we neglected to measure the fish and by consensus rule his fish was not counted as our word that "it was bigger", didn't cut it. It was much bigger! There I said it again.
