10/14/14. 10/15/14
Got up a bit late and made it there by 0700 and to my surprise the lot was empty and there were only two guys across from me. Set up on my rock and had at it. I managed 3 good hook ups on kings and landed one. On one fish, a guy was trying to net it for me and I got a little heavy handed and broke it off, 10 minutes late he gets a fish on and I net it for him. Get this it was the fish I lost earlier and my fly was buried in the roof of it's mouth, HE HOOKED MY FLY THROUGH THE EYE OF THE HOOK. I also got to play with a few steel, but the were head shaking rockets that spit the hooks. Good fly for kings today was a purple bunny leach in size 6 and a black wooly booger with a red head size 6. steel hit sucker spawn in white and in blue size 8. No pics today left the camera at home. It got crowded way up and across the way as the am went on, but cleared back out at. 1400 when I left. plan on a full day tomorrow.

Probably the one that was in the boat the other day. They also did something interesting. They docked at the head of the pool. After tickets were written one got out and headed downstream on foot. Maybe to check folks and be picked up at the launch?????. TB are you headed up tomorrow??????

Gotta say that after winding down from work I got a chance to digest some reports. It's ones like these that guys here keep my sprits high towards the fishery. The deal with being caught in the hook eye is hilarious !! Probably would have had to take a picture myself and add to the collection of adventures.. Hope I'm not considered one of those majority guys ,, lol. I'm almost blind as a bat now with cheater ( yup, scoundrel me) glasses but I think tomorrow the vise will have to come out so I can tie up some pee wee # 12 flies and a few puff balls.may use a bobber too :) Trick or treat , hoping the treats are as fun as you all been having .. Keep em coming guys ( I'm jealous now ) and thanks for keeping them real .

Well today started out good, but ended in a soggy mess. Walked in before sun up with only 2 cars in the lot one was TB and L13. Walked right by them and even said hello, but it was dark and TB did not know it was me. Around 0900 a pod of steel must of came through and there were multiple hook ups by me and my buddy for bit then it was a pick until 1300 or so with a hook up here and there. Towards the middle of the day TB and L13 came over and we shared some water with TB getting that steel. Overall between my buddy and I got 3 steel, to the net and one king. Sorry only got pics of 2 of the other ones slipped from my gasp when removing the hook. Than king was beat up, but took it hard. Steel hits were VISCOUS and many were rockets. I was in the backing 3 times today. That steel my buddy got was a MONSTER I think mid teens. It really fizzled out the later in the afternoon it got. We left and took a walk down stream, checked out Jailwater section and fished a bit here and there with no luck and I come back at around 1700 and fished for an hour with only one brief hookup. Good flies of the day were red and white sucker spawn again today, egg patterns and black stones No DEC today and luckily for the stealth liner next to me. He was an old timer that usually is on the other side, he usually does well and now I know how and he even gave me a tutorial when I inquired. Small size 14 stone fly, 6 foot tippet and a slinky above. He told me he uses ''enough weigh to get it down'' and they (dec) don't bother you if your fishing "right". Although some were hooked Good many (especially the kings)were not, he for the most part broke off foul hooked fish. Overall he was a nice courteous guy to fish next to. Same guy with running line next to me today to. He was also courteous netted a fish for me and fishing correctly o no bad to me. L13 I have not tried it yet, but I will. It was nice fishing with you guys today. TB your witness protection gig is safe with me.

Nice! Monster steelie your buddy has there... Looks like what we used to always refer to as a domestic rainbow. And to my knowledge that strain of rainbow skawns between late october through December... Two Bob, who's your agent for witness protection??? Lol
And yes!!! Crowds have been cut drastically!

Dime, When we left in the AM, we checked down to town, and there were crowds everywhere. Haldane was full, ballpark and town hole, staircases, parking was pretty much gone, and river space at a premium. I think the "week after Columbus Day" regulars arrived yesterday and were out on the river in force. Cleaning station in Port Ontario was doing business when we were leaving. LFZ had a lot of people by PM, but everyone was pretty well behaved. And for what has been being reported as a crummy run, there are a lot of dead salmon out on the bars and shoals in the LFZ. River needs to come up hard to flush some of that downstream. Also a ton spawning, the riff below the wire was loaded, as was the choppy water on the right bank below the wall hole. Clint, great sharing some water, we'll need to do it again when some of the sharks are gone, glad to hear you remembered the jar before driving home. L13

Tunes, We went looking but left the crowbar home so could not get into anywhere except around Pineville. LFZ was the least crowded spot with fish on the river yesterday. I'm not clear on the rod comment. It is a 9.5' 8 wt Orvis Clearwater, replacement for a Rivermaster. It had a removable extension butt, but the piece the butt fits into came loose and I misplaced it. I'm thinking of just epoxying the butt in, but I like it the way it is for bass popping. L13

HT I thought about walking up during the lull, but my buddy wanted to try and get a shark fort his neighbor so we left the zone for a few hours. The warm weather really got that place stinking badly yesterday from all the carcasses. To any trolls reading this and thinking the fishing in the zone is great and they gotta get a fly rod and go. I fished 12 hours yesterday for 2 steel a moldy king and a handful of takes. My buddy fished 10 hours for that monster steel and a handful of takes. Not a high number day, but worth it in my book.

Wayne you could pop for a stay at the luxury jailwater resort. With the finest accommodations and eats in Altmar. You could the fish in it's WORLDCLASS smallmouth fishery behind the resort. You could book her for spa treatments and you could fish. No issues grating a room they are far from sold out. There were about 10 cars in the lot the other day rely and late. Not full by any means, that's not going to py the bills. There was a beauty of a smallmouth caught Tuesday.
