live sheepshead for flats

A buddy of mine thinks that we should just catch 12-15 inch sheep's head and toss them out and wait on any of lower gehny dams and we will hook up with 50 plus pound flats I say it's an awsome idea big bait equals bigger fish but I'm hesitant cause I wonder if flats will feed on sheepshead or if they would eat them cause they would be an easy target when anchored to the bottom I mean I used to regularly use 10 to 15 inch flounder back home for lingcod in the Puget sound. But he has an eagle claw snagger rod I think its a 7 foot rod with a big pen reel on it but it still seems like a great idea. Any thoughts?

Go for it while the water's still over 60. Be prepared for snags close to dams though. Probably won't get a 50. But a 20lber would likely eat a drum that big.

Do a search on gaspergou.  That's what freshwater drum are called down south.  I think they are used as cut bait for channels, so guessing one in distress would be a potential meal for a flat head.  They are not very meaty fish, so not sure if they are a top prey of flat heads.  If you could find some larger gizzard shad, I'm sure they'd probably work better.  They seem to eat with their backs, near warm water discharges...
