Mon Tues Wed--
Got in late Monday and went right to the estuary- real choppy and couldnt tell if anything was around. Spoke to a few guys coming out late in a river lot or two and reports were very discouraging- nobody saw squat - up or down. VERY few fishing.
Tuesday went to 81 hole and worked down to the needle- was about the only one there and those pockets generally fish just fine before the snag fest and crowds arrive. Never saw a fish.
Two guys near the clamshed said they had seen 3 very early and had worked their way all down into the staircase without seeing another. Came out at 5 PM. and went down to the estuary and could see a small pod working up by the island.
Wed. went to the A bridge and worked down to the cemetery. No fish seen however did see one nice swirl- worked the swirl hole for a long time -ZIP. Was all alone in there.
Cut it a day short with the heavy rain coming in and got home real late Wed . Would suppose that today or tomorrow those small pods that ran DSR ( where apparently nobody caught any) will get up into staircase- and that pod in the estualry will run- but its real small stuff right now.
Generally can find one or two real early and enjoy being alone on the river getting to fish places none of us would dare enter during the clown season- not this year. At least, as rumor has it, it may be starting to start.
When ya see places like the needle with nobody home ya know it is still too early -lol.
Next week or so will tell the story---good luck to any going up but IMHO save your vacation time and money for a week or two at the very least--
Was still real nice to be alone on the river---
