Jumbos?
What is the definition of a "Jumbo" perch on Lake Erie? I see a lot of people keeping some really small perch. To them a 9" perch would be a "Jumbo".

all the small ones you threw back didn't survive anyhow from bringing them up from the bottom. you should keep all

No-Time is right. That's why the size limit is removed in the summer when they are so deep.

Yes, I see too many people throwing a lot of small ones back. A lot of them are going to die. You should count any fish you caught and ad them to your limit, even if you throw them back. Because if you don't count them and then get your limit, you are over the limit for every one you see the gulls eating. Just like steelhead, if you rope'um and keep your limit and continue to fish, any fish that go's belly up, you are over the limit! How many fish do people need?

wow yet another thread, where a simple question turns into a C & R rant....blah blah blah ..how many times can you post about it before you're over your limit???? To the OP---I would say 12+ is a Jumbo that's just my opinion.

Jumbo size perch are a personal preference. If a guy is fishing from your boat, tell him your boat doesn't keep fish a certain size and smaller. Otherwise, dont worry about what other people are keeping. The limit is really all that matters. Agree or disagree, that's the facts.

You can deflate the air bladder with a small gauge syringe or just slow down the retrieve. At least that way the perch can get back to the bottom with a fighting chance and avoid the stupid gulls. I don't feel bad if a few do happen to die especially if they're feeding walleye not gulls. Fish lay hundreds of eggs for a reason. Only a small percent are supposed to reach adulthood. You don't need to feel guilty participating in the food chain.
