Paddlefish in the allegheny

Obviously the fish catches in the newspapers are always viewed as dubious, but there was  in the 8/15 edition of the post gazette that a paddle fish was caught in the kinzua trailrace.  Does anyone have any other info?  Paddlefish are so rare so i thought it was cool to hear.

No info on that. But, a friend of a friend told me he caught on in the lower Allegheny on a minnow once. Not that big though. And I have no proof. Don't even know him well enough to know if it was bull or not sooo...

One was caught in the Tionesta outflow on July 9th. They found one or two small ones during the last survey of the Mon near Braddock.

Those 1s caught must have been 1 heck of a snag job in the mouth. Not unless they are changing, evolution. Paddle fish are filter feeders. Eat stuff like zooplankton. The only way to catch them is to snag them. And i do beleive they are endangered around  these parts. They do stock them well in the rivers.

May have been lined. They swim and feed with their mouth open...WF...a believe a lot of steelhead are lined with very small flies and long leaders.

There's also a lot of people who don't believe a carp will take a minnow or lure. Stranger things have happened. If a paddle fish is swimming along and a minnow is in front of it, would it really go out of its way to avoid it? I don't know.
