Passed on Seghi's and went to Paradise Lakes twice this week. The bite has been real slow out there, not just for me but for everyone. The first night I got shut out and today I managed to catch two channels on cut shad, both under 5 lbs. I tried different oats and rice packs but no carp. Also was throwing some larger cut bait out hoping to hook into some big cats but no luck there either. I'm heading back to Lower Twin in the morning and then giving Paradise one last try saturday night since they have a contests/quicks/etc all this weekend.

This past weekend I was at a spot in Allegheny county that is usually a sure thing for carp.  Fished for about three hours without a bite.

Well I guess it's the post spawn shut off. I've still got 3 days of vacation left though so I'm not givin up til I have to go back to work!

Rice and oat packbaits did me no good last two trips to Paradise so come saturday night its back to basics. Just made up three different batches of old yellow. Can't help but feel confident in these doughs.

OK   I haven't carp fished for several years (like30). We used to hit Sandy in Dravosburg, and JoAnn in Peters Twp. My buddies and I loved the all nighters at Joann.
With work/families cannot get out on the weekends. I see you writing about Paradise on week days. Can you win prizes/cash for catching any hogs? What's the costs involved.
I am off Mondays and Tuesdays and would love to bring back the old memories. Thanks for any help.

It's $15 for a 12 hr pass and at that point you are eligible for tagged fish. To get in on the weekly cat or carp it's another $2 for each. Its been a slow week there but there definately are hogs in there. As of Tuesday the biggest carp of the week was a 29'er but there may have been a bigger one caught by now. You could chexk out Seghi's too but its gone down hill over the past few years. Paradise is your best bet for big fish. Check out their site www.paradiselakes.net

Jug, I took a ride to Twin yesterday & while I was at the boathouse I saw that big Koi that hangs out in front of there. As you know the lower lake is nasty with weeds, but the upper lake is pretty clear. While looking around at my favorite spot I saw very few Carp cruising around, but they were coming up in the area but not what I expected. I did see a Trout come out of the water in front of me & a fair amount of small fish taking some thing off of the surface.  sam

Hey Sam. I think I might have seen the koi as well last weekend. If it wasnt a koi it was one hell of a palomino. He was a distance out from the boardwalk. Im partial to the lower lake because it seems to usually holder bigger carp but all the weeds may drive me up to the upper lake next trip out. Btw did you do any good while you were there?

Finally redeemed myself today with a 16 lber out of Upper Twin today. It was pouring rain and I was soaked even in my rain gear but the carp were feeding like crazy. Could have ripped em all morning but I'd had enough of the rain.

Also, Sam I didn't make it to the boathouse today. I just wanted to get out of the rain after so long. Next time.
