6/14/14 Walleye + pic

After some boat difficulty my dad finally got her to run good and made the trip to the lake yesterday evening. Launched out of walnut and slowly moved around until he got good marks..  They fished for about 3 hours and picked up 6 big walleye. Smallest was 25" and biggest was 31"

all on RR's nothing on meat. My sisters first time in Erie as well so it's pretty awesome! I had to sit this trip out because of work unfortunately but ill be up end of June.

No, it is spot burning saying you fished in Erie.  Now EVERYONE knows there are walleye there!

Great to see you're getting into them Eman, we went up last weekend, fished ohio line, landed one eye about 25" a nice smallie and a bunch of junk. Couldn't seem to find the fish.

Very nice 'eyes Eman! The 31" one would qualify for a certificate from the PA Angler Award Program. I don't remember the specific requirements as far as length and weight, but do know that if it was C/R, a 23" 8#'s for seniors and 6#'s for juniors would meet the requirements. There are different reqs for fish kept as far as length and weight and other things involved so if you're interested, contact them at www.fishandboat.com. Somewhere on their page will be the Angler Award Program. Excellent experience for your sister. Hopefully you'll be able to make the trip at the end of June!

Heading up sat. with two kids from my church, neither of which have been to Erie. both actually got their first licenses this year.  1st time I'll have the boat out of the driveway this year ! Anywho, any and all suggestions are appreciated. Launch at either the nut or East. p.m.'s welcome  !! Would like them to hook an eye or two. Thanks regardless.  Will report back sun or mon.

gizmos - there are schools scattered all over right now.  There are some in 25', 45', and deeper.  Reef runner 800's 100-150' back on boards were hot for us last week in the 40's. First light speed was 1.8-2.2 and hot color was purple demon. As the sun came up the bare naked colors really started to shine and bumped the speed to 2.4-2.5 to trigger bites. I would launch out of the nut and go west.  Good luck. I might be out there saturday,

Thanks drumR ! Sounds good. If weather waves co operate they should have a good time. As long as they are fishin I think they'll be happy. A couple fish will be a nice bonus ! Have no planer set up, just the dips and inlines.  Getting out will be awesome.

By inlines do you mean inline planers?  They will work too. Heck we were hooking walleye before we even got the line clipped to the board last weekend, so a flatline might even do the trick. Don't be afraid to run those dipsys up high.  If I put dipsys out this weekend I will be starting at 50' back on a 3 setting and then dropping it deeper from there.

Inline weights. Sorry bout that !Didnt sound complete when I said it but.....To lazy to correct.  Will try flat lining 1st. Have some rapala tail dancers that I believe are about the same size as RR800's. Supposedly they run about 30'.  What distance back should I start at with them ? Bout 125 or so ?

gizmos I don't run any rapala tail dancers. I'm not sure the depths they run, but you don't need to worry about getting real deep.  75-100-125-150 are all good lengths to play with. Those fish are suspended. 15-25' below the surface, some are even cruising a few feet under.   If you don't have any planer setup, adding 2 inline planer boards can do a lot of good and help spread things out.
The big thing is make sure you set up on fish and change your program up until you are catching. We had our 12 fish limit by a little after 8am on sunday, then did some c&r until 11am when we had 25 or so. It was crazy unhooking 8 and 9lb eyes at the back of the boat lol  There are plenty of fish to be had out there right now. Good luck.

I dig these pics Eman. They remind me of American Gothic with an Erie twist. Contemporary art I can appreciate. Thanks.
