Memorial day weekend

I know at least a few you bums got out and fished at least a little bit over the weekend, how did you do?

And yes, this post is a desperate attempt to stir some life into this dead board.

I took the day off Friday and went to the DHALO sections of Laurel Hill and Meadow and had a little bit of success.  The water was up but clear enough.

I took the boat out (to Arthur) to test the work that I did on her over the extended off season.  All worked out well.  Fish cooperated a bit too.  Not a banner day, but good to get out and give my drag a little workout.  I'm ready to give it a real workout.

Was at Meadow Run Friday morning myself, but way above the DHALO.  Actually, was up to where the guy has the stream POSTED, then down to about 200 yards.  Caught 10.  I thought the stream was actually low.  Looked at Lurel on Saturday and thought it was VERY low, so opted for White's Crrek.  Caught 6 over there.

This site really has lost traffic hasn't it ?  I couldn't find the message board after the change.  Wonder if that has anything to do with it ?

Oh, been trying to get to the Yough over Whitsett/Perry way.  Been too darned high to fish.  Pizzes me off.  The best fishing of the year over there (May), and not but a handful of days you can fish it without a boat.

Had the boat on the Mon in Monongahelia. My brother caught a 20" channnel cat on a mepps spinner. the only fish we caught between the 3 of us. Trolled from the fish comm. launch down to power plant.

It's a shame they closed the power plant because now there are no barges for the fish to hide under.

Went out for flat heads on the Mon for the first time this year. It was a nice night. I'll leave it at that.

Hit Pymatuning on Memorial Day. Kept 22 fish, no walleye, perch and crappy. Ended up with 4.5 pounds of fillets, very nice day.

I hit Virgin run on Monday morning. Caught 5 in 2 hours. One on floating white powerbait ball with a meal worm 24" from the bottom. The rest on floating flour. orange 2' off the bottom.

I haven't been out since opening day. Last weekend I went on an atv ride up near Kittaning. Seen tons of boats out on the road headed to spots. I would like to get out soon just been too busy.

Next time I get out  I want to look for the smallies, probably in the Yough.  But the issue there is that with all this goofy rain, when will the spawn be done?  Was it delayed?

I've been fishing the mon in New Eagle and can't seem to figure out that pool with Mitchell power closed down. Trolling has not been as effective as years past. Can't seem to even get too much out front of pigeon or Mingo....

1st yr. as long as can remember, didn't fish on my birthday.  Sort ov retired from fishin' last two yrs. so could spend more time with friends & loved ones. Spent wayYY tooOO much time being selfish in the past fishin' alone & not payin' attention to what matters most.

Time to get my MoeJoE back & fish Oakmont/Plum & a lake both after dark 'till sunup WITH COMPANY (or knot)  this summer /fall.

Plan on fishin' Arthur this fall some & could post pics. & reports if it's ok with this site to do so? That way fishers can't say the lake is fished out & COMPLAIN  it aint like it used to be.
    Fishin' is always fuN!
    crappy

Imho since the power plant closed, there is no where for the fish to hide out. I think that they moved on down river.
