Smallie Trip

We had a great time up there Sunday and this morning. We fished out of NE yesterday and had a very calm lake. We got around 20 smallmouth, some jumbo perch and some sheepshead. Almost caught a walleye on a perch we were reeling in. We fished the Bay in the evening and got another 10 smallmouth/largemouth. Most fish were caught on chubs. I did get a few on crank baits(white) I think overall most of the boats had a slow couple days from what we seen. If we didn't have chubs I don't think we would of done very good either. I tossed a lot of tubes and spinners but only managed a couple fish.

The boat ran awesome for the first trip..I will post up pics later on tonight. Ed

glad you had a good time Ed, I was up twice in the past 2 weeks on different smaller boats wasn't fortunate enough to get a flat lake, but we fished out of north east in rougher conditions and did pretty decent on smallmouth and got a few 6 lb ers in the mix.  Always fun times

I used to love to drift off of NE with big chubs, used to slam the footballs out there. Then the boat had to sell, what a bummer. I miss those 20-30 fish days.

Hey they are some nice bronze backs.  Hey guys, I have fished steel head up there for years and recently got a boat. I bought it for river fishing but, I would love to learn to fish for bass in the bay. I would pretty much have to stay in close since I have a 16' flat bottom john. I'm thinking of heading up 2nd week of july with my 2 teen age boys. Any tips or advice on a couple spots to show them some quality Erie fishing from a smaller boat ?  Just looking to have a fun trip and maybe come home with a nice batch of perch and hook into some largemouth and some smallies.
