conemaugh dam

im going to conemaugh dam tuesday morning never been there. Whats closest bait shop for shiner/minnows and anyone have any tips looking to get some fish dont have to be big just not really targeting tour or bass

    I think that you better rethink your plan to go to Connemaugh tomorrow, because it is approx. 20' above normal today.  sam

    If you end up going tomorrow, or in the future, Stapleton's, across from Kiski school usually has shiners. But, like Sam said everything is high right now.

    Unfishable.. only vehicle even in parking area today, the water was rushing out the spillway you could of put a 2 pound sinker on and it still would of went downstream. how do you get to the other side of dam? we parked by int info center and walked over and looked from the info center side. Also can you catch/fish above dam at all and get anything?

    To get to the other side: wait til the discharge is sane, then wade over.  Or walk all the way around from the trail crossing downstream.
     
    The backwaters hold fish, though access can be an issue.

    yes the backwaters are rather muddy in my experience
     
    wading across right below the dam can be a problem, too but there are a few points near the outflow where it is possible and pretty easy
