Best wind depends on what section your going to fish. Generally though wind out of the SSW @8-12 mph  is perfect for most of the lake.
As far as technique I always start with a 1/4oz white 3"curly tailed jig tipped with a medium fathead on 1 pole and a 1oz bottom bouncer with a yellow floating jig head tipped with a 1/2 crawler on the other.
Best advise is to let the fish tell you what they want and don't be afraid to try something way outside the box. Most of the eyes in pymy have seen all the standard presentations

    Mike, I appreciate your response.
I'll be trying your approach and watching for SSW winds.

Wind out of the west fishing the best / Wind out the east catch the least. Hint hint !!! This has been very true of Pymatuning for me for 30 plus years.

Yeah, lol and out of the South, bait in their mouth....  Just depends where you are fishing.  Prowling the northend for fifty years I would just say that North, Northwest is the worst scenario.  Now as far as out of the east, I love it!  Coming off the old railroad bed/spillway.   If you're in the stumps out of the east gives you protection even in a strong wind.  South/southwest is good, you can make some Loonngg drifts and you usually won't run into a lot of boats til you hit the islands.  Everyone has his preferences. Good Fishing!
