Lake Arthur Report

I fished Muddy Creek Arm yesterday;  it was rainy and cold (and windy before the rain started) but was not a waste of time.

The water was about 53 degrees and for about 2 hours the crappie were biting.  Got half dozen 11 - 12 inchers and a few more 8 - 9 inchers.

Going to be cold and rainy both days this weekend, and it rained every fricking day this week.  The lake should be a brown soupbowl.  :(  Glad you managed some crappies for braving the terrible weather.

Its good to hear you got some action. I went out back on Good Friday from the 422 launch and got one dinky perch in 9 hours. I was disappointed but had a great time on the water. I just don't know the water very well. Im going to try a different launch. So far ive hit 422 and bear run. Is there a launch by a church up there? Also, hear of any muskies caught lately?

I've always had good success early season up muddy creek arm. Alot of structure, and a decent channel runs up there. I've heard of a decent northern bite this past week. I do not target northerns but did talk to two guys in kayaks. Crappies should be looking for beds soon, any brush pile during day seems logic.

I'll give you a current temp... 32 **** degrees in my driveway this morning.  THANKS OBAMA!

Seriously though just waiting to see how much rain I'll be dodging at the lake this weekend.  Temps should be 55-60 for sure.

Check out the PFBC site, they have some pretty good detailed maps of the lake.  Will at least help you find your way to the launches and some of the area/launch names that folks drop on this site.  Search function on this site is a gold mine for helping learn a new water in the area.  Biggest issue with that, is having too many plans of attack for the next trip...
