Drove around more than fished yesterday

Really wanted to take advantage of the weather yesterday. I live in the city (Lincoln Place, nobody knows where that is though, it's near homestead/west mifflin/sandcastle/county airport).
Decided, I would love to try fishing the point. Tried that. No dice. Nowhere to park. Great for the city to see downtown so busy, actually.

Tried to access the heritage trail more towards my neck of the woods. Nowhere to park down there. Shame, because if one took a machete once the plants start growing in, there seems like there'd be a lot of great fishing along it.

Ended up down at south side. Parked at riverfront park, walked the trail up to south side works. Couple smallies, little ones.

I find it ironic that we live in an area with 4 rivers (I count the Yough) and yet we all need to be so tight-lipped about fishing spots because they are so few and far between. 4 rivers, and yet we cant get to any of them .

Yep.  Can't get to most of the river banks because of railroad tracks, industry & things like old walls.

As far as parking downtown, are you willing to pay or just park on the street for free?

It a shame really that so much of the rivers are walled up.  For example, it would be great if some parts of the Mon at the Waterfront were not walled up considering its a fairly popular place and also safe/easy to get to.  Every time i drive down 837 through duquesene and see all that vacant land where the duquesne works used to be i dream of all the fish that you cant get to because a.) you arent allowed to be there and b.) even if you were, its unfishable because of the walls.

Honestly Im not willing to pay to park down there on a Sunday. I know I couldve parked in the Stanwix St. Garage for 5 bucks or so. But growing up here its just ingrained in me that Sunday is pretty empty downtown. Its great to see the comback the golden triangle has made recently so I really cant be complaining about it. Its just a general frustration Ive had for years about the city that our rivers are our greatest asset and yet if you dont have a boat you can barely get to them.

I hear ya. I was scouting the waterfront the other day since its so close to me. Likely spot right behind one of the well known stores down there....trail right down to it...perfect. but of course its posted private property so it was a no go.

I understand why people do t want others on their land what with most people being prone to littering and generally stupid behavior and then the liability issues as well. It just sucks.

Actually that property you see along 837 from the Duquesne bridge down towards Kenny Wood has actually been bought up and they are storing pipe there.
