I grew up in Monongahela and fished that area frequently and can only share what I know. The Dam is directly behind the chemical company (Madison Ave) which has a guard shack. Access there is gonna be 0 unless you know someone on the inside. If you turn in Jones St which is just south of the start of the chemical company fence, you will find it ends right at the river and there is parking there. The bank is high and tricky in that area, but you used to be able to get down it safely with fishing equipment. Starting there and headed down towards the dam, there is a nice mud flat with a weed bed on it. The weed bend ends just above the dam where a little feeder creek dumps in. We used to wade and fish this flat from shore and bowfish. That's a lot of years ago and I would guess it is pretty silted up and potentially unsafe for wading now...take a buddy and be careful! From Jones street to the **** is about 500-600 yards. The bank used to be pretty benign, but again, it depends on what the floods have deposited...be careful and take a buddy. Good luck!! I can put you on a great shoreline fishing spot on the West Elizabeth side if you PM me. Good cats and carp and reasonable walleye and bass.
