Northeast for Lakers?

Thinking about a trip to Northeast for spring lakers. This will be our first time targeting lakers. Think Apr 12 weekend is too soon? How is the ice up there?

Way to soon....
There is still a ton of ice in the lake. This link will show you the satellite images of Erie so you can get an idea of the ice

After that ice is gone its going to take a few weeks for the water to warm up to the right temps.  This link will provide you with the surface temps.  I would wait until they climb into the 40's to go.  Hopefully by the 2nd week in May..

What happened to this place?  1 week from walleye opener and lake trout about to kick off and this place is DEAD!  The last thing in the "walleye" board is from November.  Not a single thing about getting the boats ready, rods, lines, lures, techniques.....NOTHING!
