Pittsburgh docks

Does anyone know of any launch on the rivers around PGH where the docks are in and the ramp is ready to go? Looking to dunk my boat in and do a little running around, and test out all my new electronics before I tow it down to the western basin. Thanks.

Here in boater unfriendly Pittsburgh, you'll be lucky to see a dock put in before Memorial Day and they ussually yank them before Labor Day.

That's if you can call those barely floating pieces of crap "docks". With no bumper rail, nails for cleats. Man, I'd love to know what they're doing with our tax and boat registration money. Cause they sure ain't investing it into our launch facilities.

The launch in Sharpsburg usually has the docks in early and leaves them in late.  The problem is this year the ramp is closed off for repairs, and I doubt they will be done anytime before may.

I decided to take a drive down to the south side yesterday and they had a barge with a crane tied up were they put the docks, so it might be any day now.

I agree 100% with you....Pittsburgh is a joke with public launches.  I few years back when they redesigned the south side launch I had high hopes that they would make something nice....nope....if you ask me it was worse than before they dropped all the cash on it.  Now you cant launch a boat without driving it off the trailer.  What a bunch of BS.

Went by South Side---no docks, no barge--no sign of activity.
