Gelatin like object in greenlick?

It was '98 or '99 and I was a fifteen year old kid fishing the shallow end of greenlick with my brother and grandmother. I found this weird object about 2 feet from the shore. I grabbed a big stick and pulled in to the shore. It was heavy and it took aome effort to get it moved. It was solid, in the shape of a mushroom cap, about 12"-14" in diameter, transparent, gelatin like, and covered in bumps. Not sure if it was a living object or not. Sorry i have no pics. Im just wondering if anyone else has ever seen such a thing and if so...what the hell was it?

Couldn't find you any pictures, but it sounds like a "biomass". Collections of lake organisms. I see them in Lake Arthur a lot.

Found the same type of gelatin mass at Greenlick a few years back. In fact there were two of them about the size of large soft balls and the consistency of a jelly fish. When I first saw them I thought they were clear plastic bags filled with water cover with algae and dirt.

I've seen them before...can't specifically recall any local, but many years ago, I was camping up in the Adirondacks, and the pond we were camped on had several of these among the fallen timber that lined the opposite shore.  Strange, alien-looking things, but iirc, I looked them up and they're harmless...and actually an indicator of decent water quality.  Up there, they ranged in size from roughly a baseball to a basketball in size.

Could it be a mass of eggs from some type of amphibian?

Cold, is this what you researched? Bryozoan?

Either frog eggs or a tax rock.

There's lots of them in Lake Arthur. Usually stuck to submerged trees.
