Remote stream water level monitoring tip

Here is an easy way to monitor the water level of your favorite stream(s) from your cellphone. Almost every cellphone can receive a TEXT MESAGE (check if your plan charges per text or you have unlimited text messaging before subscribing), even if it does not have internet access. Go to the http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?04250200 website for the Salmon River. You can search the site for other rivers of your choice. Once on the page of the water you want to monitor look for "Subscribe to Wateralert", set up a TEXT alert and set the options to notify you when the flow is greater than 200CFS, its always greater than 200CFS so you will get a TEXT MESSAGE every day usually 7-9PM on what the flow is if the notification is set to DAILY rather than HOURLY. See 2 screenshots below. Enjoy!
