Feeding Bait

When keeping minnow / crick bait for a month or longer, what do you guys feed them.  Bread seems to dirty up the water, making me change it every couple days.  Thanks for the replys

Last time I used bread it actually killed the minnows/shiners off since bread kinda bloats them.  I'd say maybe as stated Goldfish food or any sort of fresh water flakes or even maybe frozen bugs like blood worms or something to that extent more so for creek chubs and maybe shiners I don't know how Fatheads would approach a "meat" food. I've herd of guys making meat ball type bait for the traps so maybe that could work but it may dirty the water up some.

I do feed my emerald shiners tropical fish flakes, they come to it just like our tank fish do. pretty cruel to starve them better off just letting them go.

I agree.  I don't want to starve them.  Thanks for the ideas,  I started giving them gold fish food last night.

emeralds keep pretty good in a large container when its cold , and I have even added an air bubbler when extended period of time being kept. just don't name them then you'll have other issues to deal with !
