Report 11-14 , without a net

Seems folks are asking for a report and I'm going to try and make it as quick as possible because I'm now packing for deer camp in 3 hrs..
 
I left my house at 3:30 am for the 186 mile one way trip to the SR.. When I got to Altmar my heart sank as the lzf was PACKED with ppl, zoo like.. So I went to town and picked up some supplies.. Went back to Altmar and walked right through the LFZ along the easement to the UFZ (north bank).. To my surprise there was only 2 ppl fishing the north bank by the lower wire.. Fished my way up through to the upper wire and found that pot of chrome in every fishy looking location..
BTW, on the south bank it looked like they paved Paradise and put in a parking lot.. The south bank of paradise was wall to wall ppl..
So I basically had the whole north side to myself until around noon then some wanders started showing up.. Around 2 pm I started back down and was going to leave for home but to my surprise many left the LFZ so I pick a spot and caught 4 in about an hr..
My total for the day was 9 landed, somewhere around 20 played with..
It was a complete mix of fresh shinny chromers and some older colored up fish..
The fly that ALWAYS got bit was size 12 perfectly round orange or yellow egg..
I had a few fish on the nymph Jack tied but they wanted that little egg..
The older fish would suck it in and spit it out , felt like a trout nibbling on a worm.. Had to be quick on the hook set or you missed them.. The older fish seemed to take the fly on a dead drift as I high sticked it along..
The shinny chromers would SLAM , almost pull the rod outta my hands as the fly was completely down stream.. They would just swim up behind it, slam and run..

Oh the with out a net part.. I didn't bring a net and only took a pic of the first fish I beached.. It was a pain in the azz to dig the camera out so after that first one it stayed in my pocket..
Gotta run, hope everyone does well if the head to the outdoors this weekend..

Good job Rich,  did not know you were allowed to walk through there.   I may have a family emergency so possibly no fishing for me  (sister is in alot of abdominal pain and in the ER) we will see tomorrow if I can catch up with Charlie

Prayers answered.   Just got the news was a kidney stone, she had them last month.   Went to the urologist Tuesday and was told to stop her meds and now they are back. She just called and is feeling much better.   It was 7.5 mm and it broke in half  and  she passed half of  it.

Well a buddy of mine went up last night.  The motel he stayed at end up getting FULL by the nights end.  I mean like Salmon fishing season full....  Anyone want to tell me WHY its so busy up there this weekend, or is this the new norm.  I'm curious to see how it will look over thanksgiving/black friday....  I'm hanging my hat that most PA fishermen will be too busy trying to shoot those brown/tan donkeys in the woods than chasing chrome.

Hey Tuna, do you want to know what I got?  Close your eyes, what do you see? That's right, nothing.  Back at it in the AM. 

Well Gerry my luck was about the same only I seen lots of deer but they really weren't shooters. Took the safety off once on a doe but it just wasn't what I wanted.. 8am I heard my sons gun go off and sure enough he shot his first ever deer. A nice eater doe. Later in the day he passed on a spike which I was glad he did.
My friend got a real nice high rack 4pt but that was it for day 1 harvest.
Back to the tree I go now and we shall see what happens.
Some how this hunting game seems like more work then whipping a fly swatter all day. Sore legs and back ..
