New Waders

I already know the majority of reply's I am going to get and that it is going to Be SIMMS. But what I would like to know is have any of you had hands on experience using the Redington Sonic-Pro waders. Yes I can afford Simms, but if I can save a couple hundred and go with the redingtons then I will. I already am a fan of Redington using their rods and clothing. So just looking for some opinions on waders.

    they are nice

but the boot foot is garbage...and will fail
    too much material
    poor quality material
poor seam placement in high wear area
    too many seams

The gravel guards are pretty useless as well
and the finishes feel very cheap/ generic

Another low cost option- orvis silver sonics
same construction, but better features and materials

Spend the money and buy the Simms. You'll be glad you did after you buy 3 cheaper pairs to last the same time as the Simms.

at 1/3 the cost... wouldn't that mean you'd break even?

I would suggest the Frogg Toggs Hellbender. Excellent bang for your buck.

I think I had the three forks ones. I don't think they were called that at the time. This was about 10yrs ago. Think I got 4 or 5 years out of them before bushwhacking did them in with small leaks in the knees.

I do not recommend any Frogg Toggs waders. 3 pairs of $160 waders by myself and 2 friends. All leaked horribly in less than a year. All on seems, nothing to do with abuse or wear and tear.

Went thru 4 pairs of cabelas dry plus II's. They gave me 3. Ill never do Cabelas waders again. Frogg Toggs gave me a new pair but they sit in the box. Got Hodgeman waist highs last year for 40 on clearance from fishusa. For thin breathables they are taking a beating and no leaks yet.

Ive got the Hodgeman Stream king stitchless stocking foot. Best value and comfort Ive experienced so far and have owned 10 different pairs of waders from Simms, cabelas, Frog toggs. color is blue as well look really good.
