fall trout

We have been doing very well on nice sized trout in the local lakes. My buds are using metal & I am still using jigs. I have been doing very well with Berkly power nymphs.Don't understand were all the fishermen went. Not uncommon for us to be the only ones on the lake. Not that that is a bad thing, but I think that it is a shame that more people are not taking advantage of the smorgasbord that Ma Nature has for us.  sam

I just cant get into the lake feeshin.. Too bad they didnt stock any streams.. Why is that anyway? Just cut backs or was there a problem at the hatchery?

how come? Lake feeshin doesn't have to be powerbait on the bottom. Try all artificial for a day and walk around trying different spots it's not to bad.

I'm the same way with the lakes.  The DHALOs now too, really.

Sam, I can't speak for everyone, but from the end of September until the beginning of March, I only fish in Erie county.  Brookies start spawning, and hunting seasons open up, which pretty much keeps me occupied and off the water (unless I'm there with a shotgun).  I know lots of fishermen are avid hunters, especially the archery guys, and a day on the water is (for many hunters) better spent in the woods.

Around here i think alot are waiting for april to trout fish. Most are out in the woods hunting and some go up to erie or ny if they want trout this  time of year.

The real fisherman come out in the fall.  I've had the stream practically to myself past couple times out.

They didn't stock a few of the DHALO sections around my place they did before, always passed a few weeks till small game got here and then my Erie trips, oh well I guess.

Cold, I know that since I am retired that I have more time than most to pursue my hobbies outdoors & that most of the year I try to spend 3-5 days a week hunting or fishing, but I have noticed in the last 2 yrs. there have been fewer guys that I have seen doing either. I drive all around the southwest Pa. & have not seen 1 hog hunter this year, only 2 hunters in each of the 3 Game Lands that I muzzle loader hunted in,even in the 3 days that you could hunt with a rifle if you were a senior or junior hunter. I don't & won't waste my time on Erie anylonger ,although I have gone for over 30 yrs.,but there is so much to do around here that you can go in any direction now & most fish are hitting well. I try to go to different places for diff. species. So if you don't like trout in lakes you can go to the streams for smallies or the rivers for eyes & some lakes for pike & skys. But it is very noticeable around Westm'd Cnty that there are a lot less people out than in the past. There are more walkers & joggers around this area than fishermen except maybe on opening days.    sam

I like lake fishing. Usually easier access. And the lakes I fish are rarely ever crowded.

Did well on Saturday at Lower Twin Lakes got 3, one smaller brown, a 13" rainbow and a 15" tagged rainbow that I had no clue wth to do when I noticed it was tagged, I couldn't get a successful picture of said fish and tag due to wanting to release it safely.  I can say it was a silver tag on the RIGHT side gill plate and had a 4 digit #, just wasn't sure what to do. =D

Mags, The tags were put in by the members of the Twin Lakes Fishing Assoc. you must be a member of the club to collect the prize. The tags will pull out easily without harm to the fish if you are carefull. You have to turn it in to the boathouse, they are closed Mon.,Tues & Wed. for the winter. The last stocking by the club was over a week ago & we put 10 tagged Trout in each lake.  sam

First join the club for 2014. Cost you $10 and it will go to buy more fish for April next year.
Come to the meetings 3rd Sunday of the month.
