Tubes memories

I won't post to the rightness or wrongness of the posting of the stretch here. That's not the point of the post, it is being fully hashed out elsewhere. Just a couple of memories.

Favorite memory of that stretch: When it was Tomes campground about about two weeks after the opener of trout season ( I was about 16 yo). I was just below the tubes in that first picture using an ultralight spinning rod and reel. I dropped a salted minnow behind a riffle and a rock. And this "Really Big Rainbow Trout" grabbed it, jumped...and was off. That was "back in the day" when the steel were just getting a hold in the Erie tribs and my gray beard was just a patch of red chin stubble and wispy wanna beard.

Second favorite memory: 14 yo. Sitting on the ledge of the Rt 5 Tube about 20 minutes before opening of the season. Letting my line "accidentally slip" into the water with a Mikes egg on it. Catching a rainbow. Looking to my right and seeing someone's leg with a black stripe on green trousers.

I ditched the evidence, it went back into the creek.
