looking to make some flies

Heading up on Monday.  Looking to make some flies, any suggestions?

    I just finished up a good variety. Eggs and some buggers and flesh flies tied with rabbit. Geez, I put in a long day tomorrow, I may just be one of the fools on Monday.  I smell a long walk in the dark .

    If you target fish on their redds think earth tones.  If you are looking for steel think lighter tones.  More than anything have confidence in what you have on the end of your line.

    my best fly was an estaz egg in pink and also in black.  I was using big ones:  1/0.

    no idea why these worked so well, but we were having great luck with a pattern i tie
    size 8 salmon hook (mustad)
    wrap .1 lead on the shank
    start at the back with dark blue dubbing
    last 1/8 inch black estez for a "hackle"
     
    they were working like a charm this weekend
