I scratched the itch and it got worse

Hey. Scratched my erie feeshin itch.
Congratulate me.. Yesterday had my First steelhead on a the fly! Did pretty well for my first time. 3 steelies but missed 7! I lost some biggins too.. However, i had a blast! People said it was crowded yet i fished by myself pretty much the whole time aside from getting some really good advice from two dudes i met. There are some really nice people out there. Passed a couple others but took a walk on the path less travelled..
Had my hits on buggers and small egg patterns.. Had many bites but they spit it out so fast.. Im learning. Heres the proof

I was so concerned with gettin em back in the water the pic was all blurry.
This was my first year with a fly rod.. Fished for some smallies locally but this was the first time i really had a successful day and first time fishing for steelies with it.. Learning a new knot and getting some advice on presentation made all the difference!
Cant wait for the "one fly" (:

Good job dude. I got my first steelhead on the fly last month as well. Once you have the mechanics of mending and roll casting down pat its easy to see the advantages of using a flea pole for steel. What knot did you learn?

Yep.. Learned the triple surgeons knot.. I used to use the clench knot from line to line, then went to barrel.. But this knot its great
I got rid of my tippet(which was fat and cut too many times).. So now i use 8 lb with 6 lb flouro leader.. Muuuch better! No weight either.. Other than a bead head..

I had a nail know slip right off the end on a big steelie. I use the loop ends now and use flexible head cement to hold them.
