Anyone having success with it? I bought some of  emerald shinner type,   been fishing it off and on awile now with NO fish caught.  If you do use it and are catching fish how are you rigging it. Thanks

Those things are like American Express. I don't leave  home without them. The 1" minnows in shad and chartruese are the best. The 3" in firetiger and chartruese are also awesome. The 1" are slab killers. The 3" are walleye candy. I also have caught some pig pelletheads on the 1" this year. No jig head, just threaded onto a #10 egghook and slowly drifted with minimal weight. Most of the time they are on a 1/32 or 1/64oz jighead though. Sometimes I tip spinners or spoons with them. Love 'em.

For steelhead, I personally like the 2" minnow grubs on a 1/32 oz jig head for steelhead.  Drift 'em under a float with a consistent twitch or take the float off and jig 'em.  The 2" minnows are good too.

Have caught more pelletheads on 2" emerald shiner or chartreuse and white in the last 3 years than anything else.  Fish 'em anywhere from 4-8' under a float (a noodle rod really helps) in a lake, and slowly jig 'em.

Don't do a whole lot of crappie fishing, but the few times I have the past few years on my buddy's boat at Shenango, both the minnow grubs and minnows outfish his live minnows.

Bluegills and bass love 'em too.

By far the most versatile bait I have in my gear for all species of fish, and often one of the first baits I'll try no matter where I'm fishing or what I'm fishing for.

I haven't caught a single fish on Gulp since it came out, and I try it a few times each year. In fact, side by side, Powerbait has outfished it for me every single time.
I could be doing something wrong of course, but... ;-)

After a recent trip to the store I decided to try them again, and bought some 2" white twistertails. I'll let ya know what happens.

Been fishing the nightcrawlers, minnows and gobies for years.  The smallies tear them up.

Your main problem is the emerald shiner color IMO, I have never done well on this color either. I have done well on black shad, chartruese and smelt. try different sizes and colors...I prefer the 1"

I use the 3" twitch tails, power minnow and realistix for steelhead and have caught fish on just about any color.  It's about how you present them

Use a jighead.

3" for steelhead? Cool. I'll file that away for later use. I never would have thought to use such a large bait for steel. Thanks.

I'm certainly no expert on Shenango - have fished there 3 times in the spring on my friend's boat when it was easy to find and catch fish.  And we fished where he said we should fish.  I just know that the Gulp outfished live minnows on those outings.

At any rate, on a big lake like Shenango, it probably has a lot more to do with where and how you're fishing than it does with the particular bait you use.  Are you catching fish on other bait, or none at all?  Gulp products don't work if you're fishing the wrong spots.  I know that from trying to figure out how to catch panfish on Arthur over the last year or so.  No matter where I go or what I throw, I can't seem to figure anything out on that lake.  Pretty sure it's not the bait - it's my lack of knowledge on where the fish are there.

If you post up on the Northwest forum asking about some help with Shenango, there are a lot of knowledgeable guys there that should be able to give you some suggestion for finding fish this time of year.

But when you do find fish, I'm pretty sure that you'll find Gulp products to be a pretty good choice for most situations.

Gulp Alive! is a killer artificial bait. Don't forget to check them out at the Sportsman Show as their price was phenomenal.[If you go to the show that is. Many didn't attend last year for good reason]. Sorry, I don't remember the price except that it was significantly lower than anywhere else. I should have bought more tubs. I rigged them through the nose and occasionally used split shot 12-18" above to keep them down at a desired depth and occasionally on a jighead as Solitario wrote. I like the way they jumped when using split shot. Apparently the fish liked it also!

5000 -
Do you know if they come to the Pgh one, or just he Harrisburg?

Abear - Do a search of Gulp on the top right.  There is a ton of good info over the years on here.  Below is one from last year, that I compiled from other sources as well as stuff from here.  I am a fan of the product.  The 1" emeral shiners have worked well for me, but the larger ones, not so much.  You can always cut an inch off of the head, and make your own 1" from the back end...  You can save the head, to cut into small pieces and tip hair jigs, ect too.

Porktown, Yes. It's the Allegheny Sportsman show in Monroeville. I forget the name of the building, but it's been at that location for many years. They are probably available at the Harrisburg show also.
