Yes. It is amazing what kind of people reply to these posts. I come on here to get a little help from the other sportsmen out there. Whats wrong with that?

Nothing wrong with that.  What's wrong with my opinion that beads are for losers?  Other than you don't like that opinion.  Ask a question & when not every answer is telling you what a great idea bead snag rigs are, you get all butt hurt.  Aww, poor fella.

Have fun snaggin', snagr.

BTW, this has been hashed over & rehashed several times over the years, Mr. "sportsman".  Use the search feature, you'll find 50 pages of info.

Just so ya know; I talked to a fish commission officer today at walnut and asked him about beads, he said they were no problem for catch and release fishermen, but obviously if you plan on keeping fish they gotta be hooked on the inside of the mouth; btw, I caught 7 on 6mm peach roe colored beads 3" above a #12 hook and lost way more fish than I should have lol

So it's okay to snag if you're throwing them back?

There may be hope then that WF can put one on the bank this year.

Well. I finally got to catch some steelies on the centerpin. I did not get any on a plain bead, .. However what was most productive today was a single egg with a 6mm peach bead pegged about 2 inches above the hook. Really not positive which one they were hitting, but all fish was hooked fair in the roof of mouth. landed 4 lost 7. Not bad first trip of year. Did walk and work hard all day for them.

It's your fish story,so tell it any way you want!!!

Genie,

Not much of a bait slinger anymore, but I'm not to proud to throw a single egg, or a spawn bag.

I honestly have no problem with beads, I could give a crap less what one chooses to catch fish on.  Just sayin'... a bead is no better than any other dumb egg imitation.  It is not some God-sent lure that grants amazing amounts of fish to be landed like some people make it out to be.

Sure, under green-water conditions with flow you might have a great day with beads (along with any other egg imitation), big woop.  You still WILL be outfished by the real thing, especialy in low/clear conditions.

I did have a good day with the pin. However, I am still a fly guy at heart. I will not be using the pin in crowded areas or large pools. The way I see it the fly rod is much more practical in these kind of situations. I'm still against the guy who lets his centerpin drift the whole length of the hole when others are trying to fish also. This does not mean that I will not be using it at all. Only when the area and current allow. I carry multible rods so that I am ready for any situation.
